Hello everyone! On this week's Instagram Live, we talked about Study Island, and I got some feedback that the material and/or directions were sometimes difficult to understand and complete. The teachers CAN SEE THE QUESTIONS, so if you have any difficulty with a question/concept, please let me know and I can walk you through it.
I will be adding Extra Credit test points to my gradebook each week under assignments labelled "Online Learning Week #," and students will be earning up to 6 points for Study Island and 4 points for my supplementary work.
Study Island Blue Ribbons (2)
Summary of "Sometimes a Dream Needs a Push"
Tongue Twister (Alliteration): I will be asking students to share their Tongue Twisters on Instagram on Friday! Stay Tuned!
Hello everyone! Here we are at WEEK 2! A couple of reminders:
WE DID IT! End of the first week of online learning. I am VERY impressed by the amount of students I am seeing engaging with the online content, and it makes my day so much brighter to be able to talk with all of you :)
I have noticed that not everyone has logged into and begin Study Island yet, and I want to you to make that a priority going into next week. Try to earn TWO BLUE RIBBONS, complete and do well on assignments, each week. All of the Study Island information and the necessary links are on WILKINSON MIDDLE SCHOOL'S HOME PAGE. I have placed a button/link at the bottom of this post. Also, ANSWER THE DAILY QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS! I noticed a lot of people are liking the picture but not answering the question. I want to know what your answers are! Like I said, chatting with you guys brightens my day tremendously.
Remember US HISTORY, MAP WORK #11 is DUE TONIGHT by 9:00 pm.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Today before 2:00 PM, I am going to be emailing/messaging all grades and incorrect UNIT 7 TEST answers to students. Then, every student needs to do TEST CORRECTIONS, and I have posted the instructions for Test Corrections on the US HISTORY SHUT DOWN ASSIGNMENTS page. I have also attached a button/link to that page on this blog post (below). Test Corrections will be DUE ON MONDAY, 3/23.

If you NEED your question to be answered during the Live, comment it under the picture.
Hello everyone! Hope you are successfully navigating the new online learning sites. This week in US History, students are expected to do the following.

Hello everyone. As you have heard, per Michigan's Governor, we are currently in a shutdown due to Coronavirus. The staff has been preparing for this potentiality for the past week, and we have solidified plans for the coming month for all of our classes. I will be posting frequently on this blog to keep parents and students updated on my classes. I will also have a page on this website dedicated to the assignments during the shut down, the US History Assignments page, the link-button for which is at the bottom of this post and on the website's homepage.
FOR MISSING ASSIGNMENTS PRIOR TO SHUTDOWN: All missing assignments from the beginning of the quarter will be EXEMPTED. No students will have missing assignments for the entirety of 3rd quarter, anything that was not turned in will disappear. Our justification for this is that a student could have turned in all missing assignments before the end of the quarter, so it would be entirely unfair to hold them accountable for work they could not physically turn in.
ASSIGNMENTS DURING THE BREAK: All assignments can be done EITHER on a separate sheet of paper or on printed copies. In US History, I will be posting the test for Unit 7 on MONDAY 3/16, and I will be expecting it to be turned in by WEDNESDAY 3/18 (turn in options are below). On THURSDAY 3/19, I will be posting the Materials for UNIT 8, including PowerPoints, a Study Guide, Map Activities, and Current Events along with videos of me walking students through the PowerPoints, on the US History Assignments page. The due date for the Unit 8 assignments will be posted once I get a clear idea of a) how long the shutdown is, and b) how long the student's need to complete the material based on internet access.
I will also be hosting weekly Instagram Lives at 1:00 pm every Wednesday until we reconvene as a district. There you can ask questions and discuss material with me and your fellow students. I will have updates and instructions on these Lives on the ELA Assignments page, the link-button for which is located at the bottom of this post.
AFTER SPRING BREAK, we will reevaluate to see where we are at. I have plans prepared for four full weeks of content, so stay tuned! I will be updating this blog and keeping people informed through my email, Instagram, and weekly Instagram Lives.
Below, you will find the methods I am using for turning in assignments:
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE RELIABLE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET, packets with the work will be available. Email me if you will be picking up a packet. Please contact the administration for more information on the time and place of that pickup.
I greatly appreciate your patience during this time. Please email me with any questions or concerns, or leave a comment on this post.
Thank you for your time,
This Thursday we will be having conferences from 1-3:30 PM and 4:30-7 PM. Please stop by to talk about your student's progress in the class, and update me on any changes for your student.
This Friday, we have a test on Unit 7: The Jefferson Era. There will be a Jeopardy Review posted on the Unit 7 page under the Study Guide, and just a reminder, the Study Guide is due the day of the test!
Have a great rest of the week :)
Due to a high volume of missing assignments, I will be sending home student progress reports every Thursday in my US History classes to get signed and returned. My #1 goal for this is to instill a sense of responsibility in my 8th graders, and to keep parent's updated on their progress. Keep an eye out for these reports, as they will be GRADES in the gradebook.
